Happy 4th Birthday Molly!

O.K.  Honestly.  Where does the time go?  I have a four year old!?  Wait, wasn't it just yesterday that I was at a full moon party in Thailand drinking buckets without a care in the world?

I remember walking around downtown Toronto (where we lived at the time) with newborn Molly in her carrier.  She was 8 lbs and PERFECT.  One particular lady I will never forget stopped me on the street and kindly advised me to "enjoy every second, because time just passes you by".  I smiled politely, and thought to myself. "Yeah right lady, I just wish I could have a long hot shower, drink my tea before it gets cold and maybe NOT pee myself every time I laugh/sneeze/cough."

But that lady on the street was bang on.  These past four years have FLOWN by.

Just a few days ago I blogged about Molly's genetic disorder Galactosemia.  This diagnosis was life changing, but this child never ceases to amaze me - despite the countless amounts of needle pricks she has suffered through, and the god awfully long days we have spent a Sick Kids Hospital she continues to recover so quickly not letting anything get her down.  She has taught me more than she could ever know.

When I asked Molly what she would like for her birthday this year she thought for a moment and then answered "I would like to go to the spa to get my period".  She meant a Pedicure. But whatever, her cuteness doesn't stop.

Let me just clarify by saying that I don't take my child to the spa to get pedicures.  Molly came with me to the spa ONCE while I ran in for a quick brow wax. The Esthetician then offered Molly a manicure.  Thus beginning the 4 year old's obsession with nail polish.  Thank you Ana. Thank you very much.

Needless to say whenever I loose sight of Molly in the drug store, you can be sure that she is sitting in the nail product isle marveling at the wall of brightly colored nail polish.

And so begins year number 5 as a Mother.  I can't imagine life any other way.  (Well, maybe a bit more sleep, a bit less body fat, and a sexy man on my arm - but a woman can't have everything.)

Happy Happy 4th Birthday my beautiful girl.  xo
